Handpans
The handpan is a hand hammered steel drum that is a subset of the original concave shaped steelpan drum originating in Trinidad and Tobago. The typical handpan has 9 notes including the “ding” The ding is the top note signifying the root of the scale. The drum also has a hollow shell and an opening at the bottom allowing for maximum resonance and volume. Handpans are now being crafted all over the world and are most seen being played by street performers and meditation facilitators.
